STATEMENT OF INTENT
Statement of Intent-
Georgia Stone
The brief of this task is to create a
front cover and a double page spread of an entertainment music magazine aimed
at a target audience of 14-18 year olds.
The genre of my music magazine is
R&B and although I have specifically targeted an age group I will not be
targeting any specific gender or ethnicity/race.
The name of my magazine is called
“VIBEZ” with the “I” being a microphone and the “Z” being extra long which will
include my slogan “let the music speak” inside it. The font will be bold, big
and in bubble wiring to conform with my genre of being cool and bold.
The front cover will consist of my
main image and several cover lines on R&B music albums.
The double page spread includes several
images of the same artist and an exclusive interview.
I will be addressing my audience
using slang because my target audience commonly uses it as well, so it will
target them. This was the popular decision from my audience research.
My colour scheme on the front over
will be black and white because my background is of a graffiti wall which is
very colourful thus by having a plain colour scheme on the front cover it
allows the reader to focus on the background and the main image.
However, inside the colour scheme
will be white, black and red because red has a connotation of love and danger,
which will be revealed through the interview.
I will be using Media Language, to
create meaning with a low camera angle on the front cover suggesting my artist has
dominance over to the reader. Also the trendy outfit will be relatable to the
reader and conventional to R&B. Females are normally represented as being
weak and fragile but by the way I have represented my artist as being dominant
and powerful reveals the anti-stereotype and allows the opinion of females
change.
The location I have used is Camden because
it has loads of graffiti walls and is conventional to my R&B genre.
